I began my career as an art teacher in an art museum. Making art has always been a way of letting off steam and helping find words for feelings that were difficult. After 15 years of watching both children and adults do the same, I went back to school to learn how to incorporate counseling into making art with people.
I could not be happier that I made the move to be a counselor/ art therapist in private practice. Listening and reflecting upon the stories of my clients is a privileged. Helping them get unstuck around hurts of the past and walking with them into the present moment is always satisfying for me.
I have been a student of yoga and meditation for over 20 years. My grandmother was a wonderful model for these practices. Practicing how to be more comfortable in my body and accepting of myself has led me to experience more joy. I want that for other women, too. Being a guide in that process for others is a tribute to her and to the unconditional love she showed me.
